Monday before the team heads out, we gathered to discuss final details, as well as prepare with Steve Smeltzer from ReachGlobal Crisis Reponse. Through a presentation he walked us through how to interact with those who have experienced a crisis. As followers of Christ, we have hope to offer those processing trauma. He reiterated that our roles on the upcoming trip is not just completing a project, but more about bringing comfort, hope and a listening ear with the famlies we may be working alongside, as they rebuild their home and their lives. We feel better equipped to offer not only our hands and feet to serve, but our hearts to comfort and understand.
