Who Do You Say I Am? Mark Series

Who Do you Say I am?

Have you ever taken a “Selfie”? Of course we have! It's a part of every vacation, friends gathering, and even every day life when we encounter something memorable. But it’s also much more than that. Selfies have become self-defining. A common mantra for many is "If you don’t have a picture or video, it didn’t happen”. Besides the fact that we have phones with cameras, why are selfies so much a part of our everyday life?

The answer lies, in part, with how we view ourselves and our need to align ourselves with something larger and more significant in life. This trend tells us much about our self-perceptions and identity. In some ways it goes back to the old questions of “Who am I?”, "What is my place in life?”, “Why am I here?”, and “In what do I find my significance?"

Our study in the Gospel of Mark shouts out to us that we cannot truly know who we are…until we know who Jesus is. His repeated question throughout the book is “Who do you think Jesus is?” Like the persistent pounding of big surf ocean waves on a jetty, Mark invites us to marvel at the power of Jesus, but also at the brokenness He embraced in order to save and define us.

During this series, we will embark on a remarkable, fast-paced, clarifying journey of discovery…of who Jesus truly is…and who we can be in response. This year take a selfie of yourself and Jesus and let everything around you come into focus!
