Unto Us: Christmas Series 2025
At Christmas we celebrate the wonder of the Christmas story. We often think of this as a time for family gatherings, presents given and received, beautiful decorations, and joyful music. Rarely, though, do we think of it as a desperate rescue attempt!
And yet, that is exactly what Christmas is...the person of Jesus Christ lowering himself down into the abyss of our sin and suffering to rescue us from our fallen state. In Jesus, God descended to earth to rescue us from our distress - taking on humanity in order to save us from Hell. His motives for saving us are clear…love for and compassion toward our desperate need!
But, what deserves greater scrutiny at this wonderful time of the year is HOW Jesus actually did it. How could God become a man? What did it mean for Almighty Eternal God to squeeze himself into a human body bound by time and space? How might the full attributes of God...omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sinless perfection reside in a person? How did the Creator become a created being?
