The Christ of Christmas

Just the thought of Christmas can bring a smile to the lips and hope to the heart. Cooler weather, decorations, caroles to sing, light displays to enjoy, favorite movies to watch, a break from school, gatherings with friends and family, Starbucks red cups…. It can all be so captivating and enticing.  But that is just the “Mass” part…the celebration part…of Christmas.  What about the “Christ” part of Christmas?  Who is the Christ of Christmas?

When the Angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to Mary and Joseph, he used four specific titles to speak of who he would be! Each of those titles reveals to us amazing insights into who Christ is and what he desires to do for us! He is “The Son of Man”, “the Son of God”, “The King of Kings”, and “The Savior of the World” (Luke 1:26-31, Matthew 1:18-25)

To misunderstand or disregard any of these titles and activities of the baby born in Bethlehem is to miss the real meaning of Christmas and the real path to fulfilled living! Celebrating the arrival of this special child as the Son of Man, the Son of God, the King of Kings, and the Savior of the World….is to enter into all that Christmas is meant to be!
