Romania Mission Trip 2019
Goodbye Oltenia, Goodbye Friends
We’re on our way to Bucharest, the capital of Romania! Our team wrapped up two days of medical clinic work and children’s programs in Oltenia on Saturday, June 22. The medical team included American doctors Kirk and Dan, who worked alongside five Romanian doctors and a nutritionist, with medical assisting by American Abby. We saw more than 80 patients from the local community and were able to offer medical consultations as well as health and nutrition education.
The children’s team of Brooke and Jacob worked alongside several Romanian friends to minister to the children of the village of Caligurin. They played games, did crafts, and taught about God’s great love for them. The program culminated in an epic water balloon fight, to the delight of all involved.
Our mission of sharing Gods love included inviting the clinic patients and the children to a church service on Saturday night. The service was well attended and the villagers were again told of God’s love and His “good news.” The overall impact of the ministry is very hard to gauge, but we are confident that God’s plan for the people of Caligurin is unfolding. Our Romanian friends and colleagues plan to return to the area in the future to continue in ministry to the community.
As for our American team, we will be traveling home in a few days. But our hearts have been changed by our relationships with our Romanian brothers and sisters. We will continue to pray for their communities, the ministries they serve, and the ongoing medical mission that has begun. And I think we’ll miss the children most of all- too many to name, but all are precious children of God, in whose loving hands we leave them!
