Portugal 2019 Mission Trip
When life is sad...Deus é bom!
Day four of VBS has come and gone! We started our morning as usual with worship and a Bible Point- When life is sad...Deus é bom! Today’s Bible story was Jesus dying on the cross and an invitation to accept Christ. We had five campers accept Christ for the very first time today!! There were also some kids who had never heard about Jesus dying for them before.
After playing some games we had lunch then headed to the park. Instead of stations, today was park/water day! We played some big group games at the park, then tried a water balloon toss, and finally a water balloon battle. The kids loved it and they (along with most of the team) were soaked by the time we headed back to church.
One of the things the kids have really enjoyed is a nonsense chant Anthony and David taught them. They start whispering then get louder as they repeat it. Yesterday they sang it all the way to and from the park. It’s a super fun way for everyone to connect since it doesn’t mean anything so we can all speak the same language.
When I was asking people their favorite parts of the trip I missed a couple Pavonis!
Leah’s favorite part of the trip has been playing with Simon at the Shoemaker’s house.
Sophia’s favorite part is singing the songs at camp.
Daniel has loved watching our Portuguese team members do the skits that go with the VBS and our team partnering with the Portuguese team to do worship with the kids.
We wrap up VBS tomorrow with a celebration where we’ve invited all the parents. At the celebration, they will be invited to come back to Vida Nova on Sunday morning for church. Please pray that this is an invitation they consider and that the connection to Vida Nova can be made.
