Portugal 2019 Mission Trip
Day Three...Deus e bom!
Day three of VBS was another fun-filled exciting day! Today we taught them another camp song in English and learned that When life changes...Deus e bom! The Bible lesson was about God providing for the Israelites in the desert. All the kids loved the marshmallow peep “quail” that appeared while they slept during the lesson.
We walked to the park again then had lunch and started watching Prince of Egypt. Next was stations which included making mini arks of the covenant and color changing spinning tops. We reviewed the lesson and practiced our English songs so we can sing them for the parents on Friday.
After camp our team headed to Belém (which means Bethlehem) for dinner and a little bit of sight seeing. We had dinner at a place called Pão Pão Queijo Queijo (Bread Bread Cheese Cheese) then walked to see the Monument to the Explorers. Portugal played a big role in the European exploration of the world and they are very proud of it. This huge monument is shaped like a ship with various different explorers on it facing the open ocean. Then we walked back to where we had dinner to try the famous Pastéis de Belém- little pastries with custard in them topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar.
It’s hard to believe it’s already Wednesday! We are loving Portugal and all the kids in VBS. Please continue to pray for our ministry as we share the gospel with kids on Thursday. Please also continue to pray for health and energy for our team as VBS winds to a close.
Elizabeth Meinders, for the team.
