Give to a Mission Trip

As an act of worship to God

Giving to a local church effectively says to God, “I’m all yours: my time, my talents, and my treasure.

To express gratitude to God

We can show our gratitude for all God has done for us, especially sending his son Jesus to die on the cross, by displaying His kind of sacrificial generosity.

To be counter-cultural

The American culture places a high value on personal comfort, self-promotion, and individual gain. The Bible teaches a different way: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:3-4). When we give, we value others above ourselves.

To experience the blessings of a life of generosity

It makes sense that the recipient of a gift is happy to receive the gift. But Jesus taught that the giver is actually more blessed (i.e. happy) and that there is a connection between what we give and what we receive. “…Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35); “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
(Luke 6:38)

To show obedience to Jesus and commitment to His Church

An old saying goes: “Put your money where your mouth is.” An older saying goes, “…where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21). Another way of saying this is that how we use money reveals what we’re passionate about, but perhaps more importantly, that how we use money influences what we’re passionate about. Is it possible that stepping out in faith to give might lead us closer to the heart and will of Jesus?

To learn to trust God with our finances

When we begin to understand the Bible’s teaching that everything belongs to God, including our possessions, giving is a display of trust that God will provide for our every need. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)

To fulfill the mission of Jesus

Jesus gave us the command to “make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19). At Trinity, this mission is expressed as “Rooted in Jesus and Reaching Our Worlds,” and we have a vision of Trinity being a place where people can journey together with Jesus toward transformation. When we team up together—including financially— we can do a lot more to further the mission and to see lives transformed by the good news of Jesus than we could on our own.

We like to say that giving to Trinity Church is really giving through Trinity Church. Practically speaking, there are three main funds to give towards:

Ministry Fund

This is the most “all-encompassing” fund at Trinity Church. Some churches call it the “general fund.” We call it the Ministry Fund because it is what pays for all aspects of ministry at Trinity Church. Things like:

  • ministry events and programs for kids, students, women, men, senior adults, and more
  • utility bills
  • employee salaries and benefits
  • facility maintenance and repair
  • global worker support
  • local outreach
  • and more…

Trinity Debt Free

This iis a campaign to eliminate all of our outstanding debt by March 2025. Learn more here.

Helps Fund

This is used to help individuals and communities in need, either directly by meeting an immediate need of an individual or family (food, shelter, transportation), or indirectly through an organization that is equipped to help individuals and communities more effectively (e.g. natural disaster, economic crisis, refugee relief).

Building Fund

This is used to pay monthly payments of principal and interest toward the remaining debt until it is paid off.

Appreciated stocks? Required retirement distributions? Donor-advised fund? Gifts-in-kind? These and more are all great ways to give too! Direct inquiries to Scott Clayton.

Please note: Online payment processing always comes with fees (paid by Trinity). If this is a concern, know two things:

  1. These fees pay for convenience and administrative ease, for both donor and recipient, compared to processing cash and check gifts.
  2. Paying by bank account incurs much lower fees for Trinity Church than credit and debit card payments.

We appreciate your gift to Trinity Church, and we will make every effort to apply your donation to the ministry you desire. However, in the event the specific need to which you are giving is fully funded or no longer exists, the Elders reserve the right to use your gift where most needed in support of the ongoing ministry of Trinity Church.
