Friday's Note

So today was our last day at the All Saints' camp. We put the finishing touches on the porches, fixed a few more torn screens, and prepared people for the party we were hosting in the main square. The family of one of our Bahamian friends made chicken souse and johnnycake for all of the residents as well as our team. These traditional Bahamian dishes were a really awesome way to bless these people one last time. The last of the brush was cleared and the last splinters were sanded out, so we said good-bye, knowing that these people will be in our prayers and that we will joyfully meet them in heaven someday. After showering up at the Adventure Learning Center, we attended youth group at the local Calvary Bible Church. We played group games like dodgeball and ate pizza before hearing a message from Pastor Terrance on the importance of doing God's work joyfully. Currently, we are repacking all of our luggage in preparation for leaving the Adventure Learning Center tomorrow morning. There's a lot of cleaning to be done before we can go to bed, but this way we won't be under a lot of stress in the morning. We're thinking about you all and are looking forward to coming home again, if only for the reason that we wil be reunited with all of our friends and family and anyone who is reading this blog and has kept us in their prayers.

Thursday's Note

Hey friends and family. Today was probably the most challenging and yet most rewarding day so far. In the morning we got to All Saints' early to get people ready for the field trip. Most of the residents are not mobile, so it was a challenge to get all of them and their wheelchairs loaded on our bus. Thankfully, the process went smoothly, and before long we were safely heading to Ardastra Gardens, singing hymns along the way. After arriving, we toured the gardens, saw the animals, including a troupe of marching flamingoes, and had a delicious meal of conch fritters and Kentucky Fried Chicken. It was a huge blessing to all the people at All Saints' to go on this small outing since many rarely get to leave the camp or even their rooms. We had slight difficulties along the way, but overall God kept a hand of protection over our efforts, and everyone got home safely. We are heading into our last day at All Saints' on Friday, and though we wish there was more that we were capable of doing, we will know that we have done good work there. Today we'll finish off with a party for those at All Saints' with bingo, chicken souse, a drama performance, and a dance as a final act of service for the people that are now so dear to our hearts. We miss and love you, and are coming home soon.

Jordyn
Hey family, friends, and other supporters. It¡¦s Wednesday, March 25 and the week is going great. We are VERY tired from late nights and long working hours, but it¡¦s all worth it. We have redone around 8-9 decks and we have about 2 more to go. Isn¡¦t that amazing? Well, we are having fun talking with the people at the All Saints Camp. Tomorrow we are going to the ¡§zoo¡¨ with the people there at the camp and have a lot of fun. I miss and love you all. THANK YOU so much for making it possible for me to come on the mission¡¦s trip. I am so glad that I made the decision to go. I love you all and I will see you all very soon. With Love From the Bahamas, Jordyn Nichols <3

Rachel Bernhardt
Hi friends and family! First of all thanks for the note dad! Ben had no idea who little bit or E was so it was great to have him asking around¡K ¡§who¡¦s little bit?¡¨ haha I hope you are all having a great week and I¡¦m so glad you like your car E fº We¡¦ve been continuing work at the All Saints Camp and also got to go to an orphanage for the past 2 afternoons! It was so much fun¡Ktoday I learned some dances and man can those girls get down haha We are going to the zoo tomorrow so please pray that we are able to get everyone on the bus with ease and that they enjoy their time! Love you all -Rach

Alyssa Mason
Hey there! I have been having a wonderful time in the Bahamas! Although we have done a lot of hard work I feel like I have learned so much just within these first few days. The people at the all saints camp are so joyful and love the Lord with all their hearts even though they¡¦re sick and hardly have anything. So far our trip to the orphanage has been my favorite part! Tutoring and playing with the kids has been such a blessing for me and so much fun. It breaks my heart to see that they rarely receive the attention they deserve. So far this trip has truly been life changing.

Daniel
Yo! I am soo thankful God saw fit for me to make it out here.

Ben
Hey everyone I am having a great time. I really liked going to the orphanage the past two days. Thanks for your prayers.

Rachel Graham-Howard
Hey everyone! I miss you a lot but this is such an amazing experience! Going to the orphanages these last two days, I have loved playing with the kids and loving on them. Also, it is extremely rewarding too see the progress we are making on rebuilding about ten porches and witnessing the positive impact that we¡¦re leaving. I love you all so much; thanks for keeping me in your prayers!
Recap of Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday
Wow! We are all are learning so much. We started off the day breaking into three teams to continue work on the porches. Demolishing and rebuilding, we soon accomplished our goal and repaired four porches, the same number as yesterday, but in half the time. Halfway through the day, we had a group break off to continue clearing brush. At three o'clock, we got back on the Adventure Learning Center bus and broke into two teams to go to two separate orphanages, the Emergency Youth Hostel and the Nazarene Center. There, we played with kids and helped them with their homework, using the toys and sports equipment we brought with us. They immediately took to us, showing how much they needed love and affection. We came home after this long work day to find that a Bahamian family, friends of Shawn and Ally, had made us a delicious meal of traditional Bahamian foods. We asked many questions about the culture and the people of the Bahamas, and gained insight into this world that is so different from our own. After a lengthy debrief, we gratefully went to sleep, a bit sore but eager for the new day ahead.

Wednesday
Today we built two more porches, cleared brush from the side of the road, sanded yesterday's porches and fixed torn screens on people's doors and windows. We are really starting to see the positive impact that we are having on this camp with each passing day; it is very encouraging. Once again we had a shorter day at All Saints' so that we would have time to go and play with the orphans. Their eyes lit up when they saw that we had come back, but many of them were tearing up as we were leaving. On a positive note, we were able to give them all of the toys and sports equipment that we brought to the Bahamas. Sad as we are to have our time with the orphans come to an end, we face a new adventure tomorrow with the field trip to Ardestra Gardens with the residents of All Saints'. Tonight, we will be hanging out with the youth group from Calvary Bible Church. We love and miss you all but are having the most meaningful experiences of our lives so far. Our God is truly great!
As our first day at All Saints' many of those who did not come last year were struck for the first time with the poverty of the place, while those who were familiar with the camp recognized the changes that have occurred in the last year, including the failing health of some of the patients, some who had passed away and the work that has been done by other groups. For the most part, we cleared brush, replaced broken screen doors, and rebuilt dilapidated porches so that people are able to leave their rooms. It was grueling physical work (almost 11 hours of it!), but everyone pulled their weight with a cheerful and willing attitude. Also, during our lunch break, we had the opportunity to interview some of the residents of the camp, learn their life stories, and begin to build relationships with them. We are all exhausted, but full of the joy of doing the Lord's work, and we are excited to continue tomorrow. We will be continuing construction at the camp and later visiting two different orphanages. We hope that you will continue to pray for our team as we work for God's glory, and we pray that we would represent Him well as we serve these amazing people.
Sincerely,
High School Team

Personal notes

Sabina Mathis
Hello Everyone I am doing well. So far all I can say is wow. We are soooooooo
Blessed in the United States. We need to give more of our time and finances. I worked putting in a porch floor in today with a group of students, none of us really experienced in carpentry but we did really well. I cannot write a lot because there is a line please know that I miss you all very much but I am really glad I am here. Michael thanks for the little push you gave me. I love and miss you and wish you were here. Bye for now.

Natalie Maloney
Hey, everthing is going great! This trip has really opened my eyes, because I've relized that I we have so much! Please keep the team in your prayers! See you when I get back!

Rachel Graham-Howard
Hello loved ones. You are all in my heart. This place is wild and beautiful but very poor and in a sense, heartbreaking. So far, we have been at the All Saint's AIDS camp rebuilding people's porches (so that they can actually leave their rooms), and clearing brush as well as just loving on the people who are rejected even by their own families. I am exhausted and so at peace to be here doing what I love. Please keep our team in your prayers, and know that I send you all my love over thousands of miles and I never stop thinking about you. With all my heart, Rachel

Gretchen Ganther
Hey everyone! The Bahamas are great! Everything is so beautiful and clear. The trip so far has really made me relize how lucky I am to live in the U.S. Please keep us in your prayers. See you guys soon! J Gretchen

Abby Fisher
Hey there man, how ya doing? As they would say here in the Bahamas!!! Abby

Rachel Bernhardt
Hola mi familia y mis amigos! We made it safely and are having a great time so far! We just started work today at the All Saints Camp and we tore up and rebulit decks that are falling apart. It's been great to come back and see some of the same smiling faces. I was plesantly shocked and surprised that Arthur remembered my name and have enjoyed the time so far. Thank you so much for your support! I love you all! Can't wait to see you and tell you all about my trip! Muah Rachel

Brianna Lawrence
HHHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOO everyone! J I am doing well so mom, you can go to sleep tonight. Hahaha just kidding but anyways I feelng well, I had a coughing-ness last night so I felt bad but I took that mazing robutusin you gave me dad and a cough drop and then it stopped so no worries hahaha But the work is insane, lots of labor and my shoes are too small so that's not good and hey hurt a lot but don't tell shannon that. Hahaha. Tomorrow we're going to an orphange and making more patios so that's exciting! Yay. I love you all and I can't wait to see you soon! Hugs and Kisses! Bri

Jordyn Nichols
Hey my supporters, family, and friends. I miss you all soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I love you all. I wanted to say that the first day was very LONG!!!! We worked from like 9:30 am to about 7:00 pm. That's a good like 10 HOURS of Hard labor. We chopped weeds and plants that needed to be removed with MACHETES (which was fun, for a little bit), demolished and rebuilt some of the people's decks, did interviews and let the people know what we are doing this week, and re do some screens. Well, got to run to bed. PRAY FOR SLEEP!!!!!
Luv Yah: <3 Jordyn Nichols

Jennifer Matthews
Hello everyone! I am pleased to report that our first couple days have been great :]. Our first day of work was today. It went well! We built patios and put in screen doors and talked with people at All Saints. It was definitely a lot of work, but worth every minute. The weather here is fantastic! The Lord is at work and it's a privelge to be a part of what He is doing! Please continue to pray for enduarace, Christ-like attitudes and unity for our team. I appreciate it so much. I miss and love you all. See you soon!
In adoration of Him,
Jennifer Nicole

Alyssa Mason
Hey everyone! I am glad to report that all is well in the Bahamas. I am having a great time and am pumped to be doing work in the Lord's name. So far we have demolished porches at the All Saints Camp and then rebuilt them. We also have used machettes to dig out weeds and chop many plants near the homes. Many screen doors have also been replaced and many living circumstances have been improved. Though witnessing their living connditions is emotionaly drainig; it is also very inspiring and encourging. Tomorrow and Wednesday we are going to orphanages to help tutor and spend time with the kids. I am so thankful to all of my supporters for giving me this opportunity to serve God's people and I wish you could see the impact we are having on all of the people's lives. I miss you all and can't wait to tell you more!
Many thanks,
Alyssa

Jessica Hopkins
Hey everybody! So far everything in the Bahamas is going great. It is so amazing working here doing God's work. So far we have repaired a ton of screen doors, we have rebuilt porches, weeded lots of plants, cleaned up trash, and have gotten to know so many
amazing people at the All Saints Camp all in one days work. It has been so cool being able to listen to the people at the camp and share God's wonder. It is so humbling to watch the joy they gush with when the have so little. I am so encouraged to continue working this week and we will be going to an orphanage on Tuesday and Thursday that I am looking forward to and we are taking a field trip to a zoo which will be tons of fun! I can't wait to tell you guys more and show you ALL my pictures that I've taken!
Love, Jessica

Josh Gillespie
Hello every one, everything in the bahamas is great... we spend most of our time at adventure learning centre and All Saints Camp where we work... so it is soo amazing and im totally fine mom =) ... keep praying ... oh and I totally met the most amazing girl, and yes she is a christian... jk... love you all... monet is making me leave...bye

Barrett Burns
It was a long day's work repairing and replacing screen doors. It was amazing how much I was stretched out of my comfort zone and how fulfilling that was. I am enjoying working for God's glory, and I look forward to the work ahead.

Ben Trapp
Hey everyone, I am having a great time! The plane ride was ok but we were flying all night and got to the Bahamas at around 10. It has been fun seeing people that I remember from last year and meeting new ones.
Greetings from New Providence!

Greetings from New Providence,
Thanks so much for you prayers for our team. So far so good!

We arrived in Nassau at about 9:00 in the morning. We were a bit tired, but really excited to get working. We toured the Adventure Learning Center and got settled in our cabins. It was exciting to see Allison Helvey, who traveled with us last year and is now living in the Bahamas. We organized the tools and prepared for tomorrow's work day. Our first night we roasted hot dogs and made s'mores, followed by a worship night with the Bahamian youth group from the local Calvary Bible Church. It was a blessing to be able to worship God with people from across the world, knowing that we all worship the same God. In short, we miss and love you all and can't wait to see what God is going to do through our team at the All Saints' AIDS camp tomorrow.

Thanks for your prayers. Our hope is to significantly add to this blog ASAP. We anticipate having pictures and better internet access soon and very soon!

Please pray for one of our leaders, Daniel Medina, who was not able to travel with us due to passport issues. He should be traveling Monday night and joining our team on Tuesday morning.

Thanks,
Shawn and team

Mission New Providence Team

Mission New Providence
