“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! … Luke 10:2,3a
The Lord Jesus commanded his disciples (72 of them) to pray for workers, then he said, “Go!,” and sent them out to work. I love this picture of each of us being active in doing the work of Christ, while also praying for more workers. The promise is that the harvest is plentiful! Let’s pray that the Lord might help us to see the harvest before us (people in need of salvation) and help us to be diligent and faithful workers. Mark Brown exhorted us in a sermon to, “Always assume that God is at work in a person’s life.” Let’s pray for the specific people among whom he has individually placed us (or may be calling us to go), and let’s pray that the Lord would send out more workers with whom we may partner.
