Many years ago, I heard a message on prayer. What stood out for me was the suggested format that we should follow. Since that time I find that I usually begin with “Father, thank you for your love and your blessings.” No matter what our need or how anxious we are to tell God what we want, we should always start with thanksgiving to Him for what He has done and is doing in our lives. Psalm 107 has been a favorite of mine because it begins with “give thanks to the Lord.” The psalmist then goes on to describe the Lord’s deliverance of His people, and then brings us back to God’s great love. As you pray today, begin by giving thanks for His great love.
