“Apart from me you can do nothing.” (Jesus, John 15:5). Nothing? Really? This goes against my American philosophy. This goes against my human instinct of doing it myself. Even the Bible says that I’m gifted, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and have the mind of Christ. Jesus tells us that if we are going to bear fruit that lasts, we need to remain connected to Him, and that prayer is essential to remaining connected. The truth is, sometimes we’re like the two-year old that says, ‘I can do it by myself!’ What God knows and wants is a relationship of our abiding in Him by faith, walking through our day giving thanks for the great things He is doing. So Jesus said, “ If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”
This week, please pray for . . .
- The Back-to-school JAM outreach. We need at least 50 more team members to help serve up cold drinks, give away gifts, and to greet and mingle. (see our website)
- The Brennans (Shawn, Ally, and children) as they have their final week before they move
- Middle School summer camp. Pray for our children to grow as learn to trust and follow Jesus.
- Some of our people who are battling cancer and with other very serious illness.
