In April, Trinity Church had the opportunity to honor our Lord and Savior by serving Victoria Elementary School in San Bernardino. People of all ages rolled up their sleeves and did whatever they could to beautify the campus and acknowledge the staff. From murals and goody bags, to restoring the school garden and washing windows, there was something for everyone to do.
Serving our community was such a wonderful way to show God’s love and compassion. Joyfully giving the resources God has blessed us with (time, energy, money, health, etc.) filled our hearts and souls with purpose and love. Serve-it-Up Saturday was a fun way to demonstrate our faith and love in Christ.
Across the street from the school stands a Buddhist temple. It serves as a reminder that there is a real need to reach out into our communities and share God’s love and grace. It is my prayer that the efforts of the volunteers that day brought light and joy to Victoria Elementary and the entire community it serves. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
